Said the Walrus to the Carpenter

..let's talk of other things.

My lawyers say my brother hasn't a leg to stand on, so all that remains is the heartache. Hell, I always thought that a poetic overstatement, but it's real enough - a pain in the chest - and there was I thinking my brother was just a pain in the arse! Goes to show how people can surprise one!

Any old how, life must go on and so will I. Had a glorious swim in the farm dam this weekend - in all my clothes - somehow putting on my cozzie would have taken the excitement out of the moment. Grazed my ankle a beautiful shot getting out again, and my dress needed stitches, but there's a price for everything, and it was worth it.

I may be a bit scarce for a while - I wait for better days and better thoughts - ones worth the sharing of. I bounce back easily as a rule, so I shouldn't be 'gone' for too long: watch this space.

Today's pic: The farm dam avec Egyptian geese - one of them is a mummy.

  3. Egyptian geese? Careful, they may cut off your Internet.

It may be time to get your brother out of your life for good. He sounds like nothing but a drain.

  5. Deep breath Andrea... this is your unfortunate bump in the road. Plow thru it with all your might, I know you can, and I will send good vibes to you that the other side holds nothing but smooth sailing for you!

  8. I wish we had bodies of water here in Utah that we could swim in. That'd be so nice...

  9. Where there's a will, there's a family. And families are made up of ordinary people: some good, some bad, some boringly indifferent. Sounds like yours has the usual complement. It's just sad that wills bring out the worst in those who are bad or indifferent, and the best in those who are good. Wear your wings with pride, and fly.
Your brother needs a good slapping.

  10. You go girl! If I had been there, I would have jumped into the farm pond with you. Take care. Pets are always good company in times like this.

  11. My timing, to coin a transatlantic term, sucks. It's been awhile now since I last showed myself, and what do I find? You're taking a sabbatical! Are you avoiding me? Seriously, under the circumstances I think it's probably best you take time out to get your "shit together" (another stateside import methinks). Anyway, let's hope it wont be for long. Hugs.

  13. I've been very busy and got behind in your posts. Wow. So much. So much has happened since the day of the farts. I hope I don't have to say it - but my thoughts are with you -I will testify on your behalf at the trial, I will be at your bedside during the operation - in my thoughts.

I find it admirable that you write through all of this. I admire the portrait of your gruff dad, the makhoti vs. the rotting man, the influx of the Cuban and exodus of the South African doctors, and most of all that you waited till the very end of the post to reveal that you need "just a routine hysterectomy." (I did not read ahead). I hope that is true. I enjoyed the writing, but feel for you as well.

I know how I feel when my integrity is questioned. It is what makes me the angriest. I cannot imagine dealing with all of this at the same time, and yet suspect you will pass through this very hard period the stronger and wiser for all of it. How do I know this?! Your writing, and the glorious dive into the drink in your clothes!
